Cansu Donmez

Cansu worked in representing a European State in an ICSID arbitration arising out of consumer credit regulations of Swiss franc-indexed loans. She has also acted in a pro bono case for several journalists in their claims before the European Court of Human Rights for violation of their physical integrity and right to freedom of expression.

Areas of Expertise

She specialises in international arbitration, cross-border litigation, and private international law. She has a passion for cross-border disputes and human rights, which she wishes to combine with her knowledge in international dispute resolution. Since joining Pogust Goodhead, Cansu has been assisting with cross-jurisdictional matters such as the Fundão Dam Litigation.

Career

She holds a law degree (LLB) from Koç University, Istanbul, and an LL.M in International Business Law from King’s College, London. As of July 2022, she completed her Ph.D. studies in Private International Law from Istanbul University with a thesis on “Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards Set Aside in the Country of Origin” which was published in December 2022. Prior to joining Pogust Goodhead, Cansu worked at a leading public international law firm in London where her work comprised of advising governments, international organisations and private clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious public international law matters and international dispute resolution issues. She also worked at a major law firm in London specialising in international arbitration where she provided services mainly in the areas of commercial and investment arbitration. She is fluent in Turkish, English, and French.
