In July 2021, Pogust Goodhead resolved the BA Data Breach claim on confidential terms.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As court-appointed lead solicitors, the Pogust Goodhead team led the UK mediation between legal representatives for claimants and British Airways Plc. A resolution was reached efficiently but the terms remain confidential.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resolution includes the provision for compensation for qualifying claimants who were part of the litigation but does not include any admission of liability by British Airways.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the successful conclusion of the British Airways Group Litigation, Pogust Goodhead continue to hold funds for certain eligible clients.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CASE HISTORY <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Airways revealed<\/a> on 7 September 2018 that there had been a breach of its security systems, leading to over 420,000 customers and staff having their personal data leaked.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This included names, debit and credit card numbers, addresses, and email addresses.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2019, the Information Commissioner\u2019s Office (ICO) issued a <\/a>notice<\/a> of its intention to fine British Airways \u00a3183million for infringements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in October 2020, the ICO revised<\/a> the fine down to \u00a320million having considered representations from BA and the impact of Covid-19 on the business.  
 
\u201cThe Information Commissioner\u2019s Office laid out how BA did not take adequate measures to keep its passengers\u2019 personal and financial information secure,\u201d Harris Pogust said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHowever, this did not provide redress to those affected. This settlement now addresses that.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
